FUN BUNCH ROSTER 2018FUN BUNCH HALL OF FAME
![]() | Emilie "big time" Belanger rover | Emilie is Jess "bullseye" Belanger's little sister. Expectations are high as "big time" is joining the fun bunch after several years of playing on a women's competitive fastball team. |
![]() | Meghan "marathon" Saunders rover | Meghan is joining the team full time in 2018 after her debut as a spare in 2017. A triple-A hockey player, she will bring her competitive edge, discipline, and top-notch conditioning to the team. |
![]() | Paris "songbird" Patricelli rover | Paris is joining the team after her work schedule opened up. Paris is a former semi-professional singer and has agreed to sing the national anthem before each game. She is also a keen athlete who played organized football and now likes to cycle and hit the gym . |
![]() | Ryan "man-o-war" Matischuk outfield | Ryan is joining the team full-time, after sparing last year and playing in the tournament. Ryan is going to help fill the void left by the departure of Mark "polygon" Pintar. |
![]() | Adrian "sweetspot" Seaman outfield | Adrian is another recruit from steve's "peashooters" hockey team, who along with ryan, will help replace "polygon" and add some (much needed) youthful exuberance to the team. |
![]() | Jess "bulls-eye" Belanger 1st base | Jess made her rookie debut in 2016 where she impressed the fun bunch management with here hitting and fielding prowess. She further distinguished herself by hitting not one but two in-the-park homeruns to set a team record. Also a skilled hockey player, Jess has fit in nicely and developed a friendly rivalry with leah as the two of them traded monster hits back and forth amongst playful trash-talking. |
![]() | Leah "road runner" Morrell 3rd base | Goaltender of carleton university's ringette team and friends of jamie "the machine" marchesi, Leah flexed her athletic prowess in her debut with the fun bunch. As an elite athlete, Leah had no trouble flying down first base line to beat out infield hits as she quickly learned how to make solid contact with the ball. |
![]() | Kathie "daredevil" Adare first base | Kathie was recruited from the Aquabats in an off-season deal as a safeguard against Chantal's ongoing back issues. "Daredevil" was an immediate hit with her teammates as she played rock-solid at first base whenever "bud light lime" was out-of-commission-- the two quickly becoming a formidable tandem. Declaring her first season a big success , she rewarded her new teammates with a bottle of "hooch" when they soundly defeated her old team in the year-end tournament. |
![]() | Alison "bulldozer" Hale rover | Long-serving team captain, Alison has been rejuvenated as of late with her newly acquired power-hitting skills. Crunching some of the furthest hits of the Fun Bunch women, Alison also serves as a respectable rover and back-up 1st baseman. Known for her determination running the bases, more than one player has learned the hard way how she earned her nickname when they foolishly crossed her path. |
![]() | Clark "pound 'em back" Lawlor outfield | Although conditioning is not his strong suit, Clark Lawlor knows how to play the game. Called up from the minors after several above average outings last year as a spare, Clark is looking to impress with a vengeance. Missing the season opener is not a good way to start. |
![]() | Richard "wild thing" Bujold 2nd base | His nickname speaks for itself. Does everything with wild abandon. Seemingly risks life and limb on every play. Wears his heart on his sleeve. Would run through a brick wall to make a play. The "john tonelli" of baseball. Works hard and plays harder. Every manager would love a team full of "wild things". A great guy to have on your team. |
![]() | John "hans solo" Devries outfield | The senior member of the team, John plays with the ability and fitness level of a youngster. Recruited from the "mixed nuts" fastball team, John earns his spot on the roster with a deceptively hard throwing arm and his consistent play in the outfield. John is a solid singles hitter who has been known to go deep on occasion but sometimes with the bases empty earning him the "hans solo" moniker. |
![]() | Glen "the wrangler" Rankin outfield | Glen joined the Fun Bunch a few years ago as a free-agent when his professional hockey career came to an end. Torn rotator cuffs make playing the outfield painful, but you will never hear "the wrangler" complain. Making some of the most remarkable catches of the season last year, Glen can hit the ball deep as well. His experience playing professional sports has left Glen with little patience for players taking the game too seriously and he has been known on occasion to "straighten them out". |
![]() | Scott "boom-boom" Saunders outfield | Scott has shed his "bum rap" for missing the playoffs the last few years with a stellar performance this post-season. Known for his explosive bat, Scott also has the strongest arm on the team, gunning down players from straight away centre on occasion. The younger of the Saunders "bash brothers", Scott has learned a lot from his big brother Steve who continues to mentor him on and off the field. |
![]() | Steve "field marshal" Saunders shortstop | "they broke the mold when they made this guy" his teammates have been quoted saying in reverence of Steve "downtown" Saunders. Entering his 31st year as Fun Bunch shortstop, Steve is an "old school" player who has a "take no prisoners" approach to the game. Back surgery, leg surgery, multiple concussions, ganglion, separated shoulder, broken nose, torn achilles tendon, arthritic hip and shoulders, high ankle sprain with bone chip, torn hip abductor and hairline fracture of 2nd metacarpal have not been able to slow Steve down. The older of the Saunders "bash brothers" Steve holds the all-time Fun Bunch record for home runs, hits, batting average, as well as on-base and slugging percentage. With retirement no where on the horizon Steve looks forward to his next 31 years with the Fun Bunch. |
